Artist: Matt Witt
Project: Steve Rack’s Toe Fluff Exhibition
Website: toefluff.co.uk
A few weeks back we were informed about a very interesting project organised by the illustrator, Steve Rack. The project revolves around the wonderful world of Toe Fluff. Steve Rack invites all to create their very own Toe Fluff character, anything goes as long as it’s based on the template provided.
Creature got very excited by the prospect and as you can see from our efforts, we got a little carried away with the Toe Fluff Joy. We decided that we couldn’t decide on one particular Toe Fluff character, so we did 227! That’s right, a Toe Fluff made of 227 little bits of Toe Fluff… fluff within fluff. Please + Enlarge the image above to see it in it’s full glory.
Creature says:
“We live in London, it is crowded, there are so many different faces and characters to see and within those characters there many different personalities, roles and means of self expression, this is the philosophy behind our Toe Fluff. Being proud of uniqueness and individuality is the message we are trying to put across. Besides that, it’s just a fun image with lots of character, many people have already spent a lot of time looking at and appreciating each little Toe Fluff as an individual.
We think this project is wonderful and we wanted to show our appreciation by creating something extra special. The illustration is made from lots of little bits of found images, so is more of a collage. It took a long time! We really wanted to show what the Toe Fluff project is all about, creativity, collaboration and fun. We hope we have accomplished this.”
Here is a close up…

About the project
The Toe Fluff project explores Steve Rack’s imaginary land of Toe Fluff, ruled by King Socktopus. There is an open call for artists to get involved and create your very own Toe Fluff character, it will be displayed on the Toe Fluff website and if it’s really great it will become part of the Toe Fluff exhibition on 30th July. Many other artists have already been busy creating their characters, we have included some of our favourites below. The current collection can be seen here:www.toefluff.co.uk

About the exhibition
The exhibition’s party night is on the 30th July 2010 and will consist of a fun collection of Toe Fluff customizations by an array of artists, including some familiar names within the contemporary art world! The backing music is by dubstep electronica producer, The Transisionist, created especially for the exhibition.
The exhibition itself will run from the 26th July to the 11th August and is being held at the Post Modern Art Gallery in Swindon, famed for exhibiting work by many successful artists in the Southwest of England.
Creature urges you to get involved. If you would like to submit your toe fluff to the exhibition and the toe fluff site, you can download the toe fluff template here: www.toefluff.co.uk. Simply download the template get creative then send it off to Steve. Easy!
