Creature loves poetry nearly as much as we love illustration. So what happens when we merge the two mediums? Find out below!

Earlier this month we called out for illustrators to create images for a series poems by Ju Shardlow. We gave each illustrator one poems each and asked them to create their visual interpretation.

There are 6 poems in total, the first three were released on Tuesday (click here to view), this post gives you the final three with accompanying illustrations.

The man killed his own cock (California Birdfight)

On the news of fighting cocks
there was a news of death.
“Tulare”, rimmed the mouths
of men till even grit went deaf.
In maddening sun a scene of guts
and trash of glass was swift,
bundling arms of splattered notes
the mustangs roared and left.
“Someone got him to the grave?”
(a hat tipped to another) “Naw,
a knife in midst of flight
was brandished on the brother.”
At night the tale was networked
over starlit, linered ocean,
and in the lounge of youth-filled house
caused this brash commotion:
“Guns don’t kill people,
chickens do.
AHAHAHA
OHOHOHOHHOOO.”
On the news of fighting cocks
there was a news of death.
“Tulare”, rimmed the mouths
of men till even grit went deaf.
While saner towns with
righteous mounds (and PETA)
kissed their bets.

The Greatest Pizza Place on the Planet

After rattling slices at a thong,
Baz necks another quid vodka.
Dancing girl tastes the cheese:
“Put in a few anchovies,
I’ll grind till dawn.” But
Dawn was already grinding
the pepper, disgusted Baz
had brought her to Thin and Loaded.

People having sex after a heated motorbike accident

He stripped himself of leathers.
Scarred-on sinew patterns
with metallic paints, peels off
t-shirt underneath
to reveal real flesh.

He helped her with hers.
Ripping, the stench of sweat-soaked
grease never left the hall.
They kept their helmets on.

Luckier were two blokes outside
who found the keys still in the ignition.

Thanks yous…
Thanks to Ju Shardlow for allowing us to publish her poetry. This art wouldn’t exist without her words. Nor would it exist without the eagerness and creativity of all the artists involved, it’s so interesting to see how each individual has interpreted Ju’s words. We hope more than anything that it has been an enjoyable experience for you.

More opportunities coming soon!
