This week saw the launch of the PimpArtworks, a brand new art community website dedicated to Urban and Street art. Their fresh new concept does away with all the red tape involved with exhibiting urban artworks and offers a global platform to both buy & sell from, regardless of if you’re a known name or not.
PimpArtworks state they will promote, sell, manufacture and distribute urban & street artworks on behalf of artists and photographers without any of the bullshit normally put in the way of creative artistic talents trying to get recognised and out there – they’ve actually got “Guerrilla Cultivation” written in big letters all over their site!

Artists are completely free to join and advertise their work in their very own PimpArtworks digital art gallery. For each individual artwork uploaded, the artist themselves set their own commission. PimpArtworks will then drive traffic and generate sales to the galleries. They’ll only take a cut for the service when something sells.
In their own words “our concept only results in a showcase of explosive expression capable or challenging any big corporate marketing budget. By removing the barriers normally set by established art galleries dominance, it gives a dramatic alternative art collection & experience. And PimpArtworks simply do it by keeping it real.”

PimpArtworks’ products include prints, mounted canvases, framed pictures and a very slick looking Perspex acrylic option which they boast is the new modern phenomenon of displaying wall art.
We asked them how the website came about. “Call it a rebellion against all of those big corporate businesses repeatability pushing the same stock images in peoples faces if you want; but when the anonymous artwork sprayed late at night on the shutters of a well know Swedish furniture store has more wit, character and appeal than the stuff they actually sell inside, well… someone had to do something! And PimpArtworks did just that.”

“Everyone has an opinion about art. It’s just like music. Everyone will always name at least one type. If they can’t or won’t, then they’re the ones your parents warned you about when you were a kid and seriously steer well clear of them, they’re soulless individuals! But then, what happens if you actually like the alternative arts? Graffiti, urban artwork, stencils, you know the sort.. the style which the bosses of those big corporate company’s ran by the suits, stick their noses up at because no one asked for their permission first? Well if this is you… then PimpArtworks welcomes you with open arms!”
