Who are you?
My name’s Holly and I graduated from Middlesex university last year. I’ve lived in London for 4 years.

What do you do?
I paint solely in watercolour, with a contemporary feel. I’ve illustrated for Redwood publishing and Dazed Digital, and am included in the latest AOI (Association Of illustrators) annual, IMAGES 37.

Why do you do it?
I paint because it makes me happy. I love the challenge of a brief, from coming up with the ideas, working on it practically and seeing the end result. I want to work for myself, meet and work with new people and companies and share my illustrations with the world.

The underground, killer whales, working for free.

Holly says about Social media:
Social media networking has proved to be an essential part of my self-promotion as an illustrator. In fact, most of the clients I have been approached by have found me through my twitter account or my blog. Platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Blogger and Flickr are great for sharing work. I feel quite lucky to live in an age where there’s access to all these free and easy to use networks to promote one’s work, which takes the load off having to print and send out physical promotion packs. I believe having a strong online presence and voice is so important for getting your work noticed.
